Still keeping a close eye on Louisiana-06 and Mississippi-01.
I noticed a couple things while rummaging through numbers today.
OR-05, The Republican candidate from 2006 who is running again… (Michael Erickson) – Has self funded about half of his donations, (634K, 341K self funded, 292K donated) has nearly two million dollars of campaign debt right now. I’m not sure if this is carrying over from 2006, or what. But I don’t expect him to be as strong as people were thinking, unless he plans on self-funding two million dollars.
IN-09, Mike Sodrel is sitting on 1.2 million in debts right now.
PA-05, Glenn Thompson has had Negative Cash on Hand, and has had, for the most part, lackluster fundraising – Having only raised $19,000. Maybe it wasn’t so bad this chump pulled through the Republican primary.
PA-10, Self Funder Chris Hacket won a tough primary, self financing $590,000. His Real Cash On Hand is currently -300K. His primary opponent (also a self funder) has to pay off his campaign debts. He has to double his campaign donation to pay off his over 900K campaign debts.
A good example of why you don’t want Republicans in charge of our economy. They can’t even manage their campaign accounts!
Melancon doesn’t have much money, but Hall isn’t running much of a campaign.

I wouldn’t put it past Mike Erickson to self-fund himself to the tune of whatever he can. I live right outside OR-5 (I actually am in an interesting area of the nation (WA-3), where I am flooded with OR-5 and WA-8 TV ads) and Erickson is running ads all the time. I do feel OR Republicans would be foolish to nominate Ericksono over Kevin Mannix, who although he has lost statewide a few times, has been able to carry OR-5 in his runs for statewide office.
But then look at the losers my party has nominated this year alone, Bill Oberweis, Woody Jenkins, etc.
They are personal loans to their own campaign and will likely never be paid back.
